Lonnie Bunch and the NMAAHC

Hi family,

We are extremely pleased to let you know that during the reunion, Lonnie Bunch will be speaking with us about the building of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture – in which our family member, J. Max Bond Jr. designed. The new museum will sit next to the Washington Monument at the National Mall in D.C.

United States Botanic Garden is located on the National Mall across from the Capitol Building

“Steeped in history, rich with tradition, the United States Botanic Garden is one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. It informs visitors about the importance, and often irreplaceable value, of plants to the well-being of humankind and to earth’s fragile ecosystems. The Garden was established on the National Mall in 1820.” Explore Capitol Hill

“The United States Capitol is among the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive buildings in the nation. It has housed the meeting chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for two centuries. The Capitol, which was started in 1793, has been through many construction phases. It stands today as a monument to the American people and their government.” The US Capitol Building
